What to Wear on Your Yukon Vacation

Yukon summers are often sunny and warm and winters are snowy and cold. Spring and fall are times of transition and the weather can be unpredictable. Yukon weather can change quickly any time of the year, so plan to pack accordingly. Layered clothing is always a good idea so you can adapt to changes in temperature and conditions.

Hats, long sleeves and sunscreen are good protection from the intense northern summer sun. If you're coming for a winter Yukon adventures and you don't want to buy a parka and boots, check ahead to see if your tour guide provides winter clothing or if you can rent a winter clothing package.

A suggested packing list

Spring tours:
Long-sleeved shirts/pants, windbreaker or jacket, wool sweater/fleece vest, warm hat and gloves, walking shoes, waterproof boots.

Summer tours:
Short-sleeved shirts/shorts, long-sleeved shirts/pants, windbreaker or jacket, wool sweater/fleece vest, walking shoes.

Fall tours:
Long-sleeved shirts/pants, windbreaker or jacket, wool sweater/fleece vest, warm hat and gloves, walking shoes, waterproof boots.

Winter tours:
Long-sleeved shirts/pants, long underwear, wool sweater/fleece vest, winter coat, warm hat and gloves, walking shoes, insulated boots.

And you'll need your sunglasses all year round.
